In this collaborative project with the Hurel Corporation® and the Schwartz Lab at Weill Cornell, Ben, Jenna, and Gabe showed that a micro-scale platform for culturing primary human hepatocytes is amenable to HBV and HBV/HDV co- and super-infections, with transcriptomic data confirming that the cells maintain a mature phenotype for a prolonged duration. Ben and co further evaluated the immune response to infection in these cells… to learn what they found (hint: these are some sneaky viruses), you can read the full study here!
Congratulations to all the authors on this very interesting work, which provides a powerful tool to study HBV and HDV in a high-throughput format!
