Hometown: Chambersburg, PA
Major: Molecular Biology
Previous Lab Experience: No previous lab experience, but I am very excited to learn a lot!
What drew me to Ploss lab: The Ploss lab is doing research that is completely different than any other lab at Princeton, and that’s something I wanted to be a part of. I also knew I wanted to do research that connects to human health and disease because this is a topic that has always interested me and I hope to carry on that interest through the lab and to med school in the future.
VRINDA MADAN ‘21
Hometown: Orlando, FL
Major: Molecular Biology
Previous Lab Experience: In high school, I conducted a three year study at the University of Central Florida to uncover new anti-malarial drugs. The summer before my freshman year, I worked at Regeneron Pharmecuticals as a target gene therapy intern. This past summer, I continued conducting target gene therapy research at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.
What drew me to Ploss lab: While I was at Sloan Kettering this summer, I became really fascinated with immunology and the intricate ways in which our body is able to fight pathogens, viruses, and cancers. The Ploss lab, with its wide range of research topics and interdisciplinary approach, seemed like the perfect intersection between my various interests. Plus, I had heard really great things about the lab so I am very excited to be a part of it!

Hometown: New Rochelle, NY
Major: Philosophy
Previous lab experience (if any): A brief summer in a biochemistry and epigenetics lab at Albert Einstein College of Medicine
What drew you to Ploss Lab: I'm pre-med, so I hope to spend the rest of my life fighting diseases. What better place to start that journey than by learning about and working to combat some of the world's most effective pathogens? Plus, I've only been here for a week, and it's a wonderful working environment. AND the lab is on the first floor.
