Sending a warm welcome to our newest rotation student, Stephanie Maya! Stephanie graduated from the University of Florida with Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Microbiology & Cell Science, as well as a minor in Bioinformatics. Previously, she studied norovirus in the context of interactions with gut bacteria and transcytosis of the gut epithelial barrier.

Says Stephanie, “I love virus biology because it is relevant to human disease but also a powerful tool for technologies such as gene therapy.”

We are looking forward to working with you for the next few months!                         

Stephanie is a first-year graduate student hailing from Coconut Creek, Florida, which she points out is an actual town and not a Mario Kart game.
